U.S. National Team Weekend Roundup

US Lacrosse's Nathaniel Badder oversees all aspects of — except for coaching and playing on — the four U.S. national teams. And he monitors Team USA players' in the college game as well. Here's a roundup of notable weekend performances from U.S. national teamers.

WOMEN
Top-Ranked Maryland Bounces Stony Brook
Team USA members shined in Maryland's 11-3 win over Stony Brook – 2013 U.S. Team midfielders Katie Schwarzmann (1g, 1a) and Kelly McPartland (1g, 1a) starred on offense, and 2012 U.S. Women's Team defender Iliana Sanza anchored the D with three caused turnovers and three groundballs.

Duke Defense Blockades Navy
2011 U19 Team Midfielder Maddy Acton followed her first round game-winner against Princeton with another goal in Duke's second round win over Navy. U19 teammate Taylor Trimble added a hat trick and one assist, and goalie Kelsey Duryea posted 10 saves in the 10-5 win.

Florida Downs Denver
2012 U.S. Team attacker Brittany Dashiell (3a) set the table and 2011 U19 Training Team midfielder Shannon Gilroy (4g) drove them home as Florida pounced on Denver 16-5. 2012 Senior Team goalie Mikey Meagher wards off 9 shots in the win.

UNC Topples Loyola
2011 U.S. Team attacker Kara Cannizzarro posts 5g, 2a as UNC toppled Loyola 19-9.

Penn State Gets Past UMass
2011 U19 Team midfielder Tatum Coffey scored her 28th goal of the season as Penn State took down Massachusetts 12-9.

Treanor has Big Game for Syracuse
2011 U19 Team attacker Kayla Treanor notched 5g, 2a as Syracuse rolled past Dartmouth 21-8, and set the table for a quarterfinal rematch with Florida.

MEN

Buczek Helps Cornell Down Maryland
2012 U19 Team attackman/midfielder Connor Buczek chipped in 1g, 1a as Cornell downed Maryland 16-8. U19 Teammate Charlie Raffa notched goal for the Terps in the loss.

Turri Stands Tall for Duke
2012 U19 Team goalie Kyle Turri made 13 saves as Duke knocked off defending champion Loyola 12-11 in double overtime.

Pontrello Gets on Board in UNC Romp
2012 U19 Team midfielder Stephen Pontrello pockets 2 goals as North Carolina downed Lehigh 16-7.

Kavanagh Leads Irish to Comeback Win
2012 U19 Team attackman Matt Kavanaugh lead a fourth quarter charge and netted 4 goals as Notre Dame narrowly escaped a first round upset at the hands of Detroit Mercy 9-7.
