Shootout for Soldiers Underway in Owings Mills

The annual Shootout for Soldiers event is up and running, having started this morning and running throughout the night and closing out tomorrow morning, all the while raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. (If you're interested in donating, the link is here)

A year ago, Team Stars defeated Team Stripes by a unique score line of 349-336 as hundreds of players cycled through the contest over the 24-hour timeline, including 30 veterans. The event raised $126,000, bringing the two-year total for the event to $250,000 - which is impressive considering organizer Tyler Steinhardt's original goal was $10,000 when he drew up the event as a student at Boys' Latin.

Once again, the contest will run for 24 hours, with players cycling in at one hour intervals. For the first time, there will also be a second event, up on Long Island, which takes place on July 24th-25th.
