U.S. U19 Team Blog: Mikaela Rix
Mikaela Rix, a midfielder from Team USA, checks in on the
team blog to give us the inside scoop on the game versus the
Haudenosaunee, and who she got to meet when the players took in
opening day at Hannover 96, the local soccer club.
The trip has been so much fun so far! I have really enjoyed staying in the hotel with the other teams, and becoming friends with the other players. The girls from Wales are so nice and friendly. We are going to get ice cream with them after dinner tonight!
Hanover is such a pretty city and the bike lanes that they have here for all the bikers is really cool, because we don't have anything like that in New York. But we have to be careful because a few of us have almost gotten hit by the crazy bikers!
The game agaisnt the Haudenosaunee today was great! Althought they were not the most skilled team, they had a lot of spirit and heart and after the game, all of the parents and coaches came up to us telling us how much they appreciated our sportsmanship, which really meant so much to us!
The Hannover 96 soccer game was so much fun today! It was possibly my favorite part of the trip so far! I am a huge soccer fan so being in the stadium was so cool. The atmosphere was electric! After the game team manager Sarah Aschenbach and I got to go into the VIP lounge and met Steve Cherundolo, the American soccer player on Hannover 96!!!!!!! I was so excited! I got a picture with him and he signed the jersey I bought! It was so much fun!! So excited for our game against England tomorrow and then against Australia on Tuesday! They should be really competitive games!
