Syracuse's Daniello to Take Medical Leave
Attackman Mike Daniello, who transferred from Johns Hopkins to Syracuse this summer, will not play this season because of medical reasons, according to a report from syracuse.com.
A spokesman for the Syracuse athletics department told the site that Daniello, a sophomore from Cross River, N.Y., will take a "medical leave of absence," following an incident that left him hospitalized around Christmas. The university has not said what happened, but said it was not related to lacrosse.
Syracuse coach John Desko told reporters on Jan. 8 at the team's media day that Daniello was out of the hospital and was doing better.
Daniello registered no points in eight games as a freshman at Johns Hopkins last season, transferred to Syracuse and enrolled in the fall. He is the younger brother of Chris Daniello, an attackman who played on the Orange's national title teams in 2008 and 2009.
