Had government activities shut down at midnight Friday, athletic competitions involving Army, Navy and Air Force would have been postponed, and there would have been no events until the shutdown was over, according to announcements from the Army and Navy athletic departments.
But an agreement was reached, averting a potential shutdown and allowing the three service academies to play their schedules uninterrupted.
Army will host Bucknell in a men's Patriot League game at noon Saturday at West Point. Air Force plays in Louisville against Bellarmine, also scheduled for noon Saturday local time.
The Navy men's team played Maryland Friday night at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Md. The Terps' won 10-4. The Navy women's team faces Colgate at noon Saturday in Annapolis.
