In a bit of a coincidence with our post Monday showing off the hardware that the MLL's Boston Cannons will receive for their championship win, the University of Virginia sent out the above image of the 2011 Cavaliers' captains posing with rings and the NCAA trophy at a award party Saturday night.
More than 300 individuals attended the party at the Virginia's Darden School to celebrate Virginia's 2011 NCAA title. Ten members of the squad were also honored with team awards.
"We are very happy and proud to have announced our team award winners during the ceremony that celebrated our 2011 National Championship," Virginia head coach Dom Starsia in a press release. "It was a day that included an emotional crowd response at the football game, pictures and autographs with 2003, 2006 and 2011 Tewarraton award winners Chris Rotelli, Matt Ward and Steele Stanwick, a reception with the team, University dignitaries and alums and a ring ceremony kicked off with remarks by Craig Littlepage and President Teresa Sullivan.
"If there is truth to the proposition that you need to celebrate properly in order to truly move on, we begin the 2012 season journey with a burst of momentum. I would just like to say thanks to everyone who made this day and this 2011 season such a meaningful event in our lives."
