Stanford Heading Down MPSF Stretch
These past two weeks we have played a lot of lacrosse! Two weeks ago, we lost a hard fought game against Northwestern. At halftime, we trailed 8-7. Our offense was scoring at will and our defense was solid. Unfortunately in the second half our offense could not keep up the momentum from the first half, with the final score ending at 12-8. Our defense was doing great, causing a lot of turnovers and forcing Northwestern to take the shots I wanted to see. That allowed me to make saves. It was disappointing we couldn't take advantage offensively from the strong defensive effort.
We bounced back this weekend winning two MPSF conference games against Oregon and San Diego State. Everyone was fired up after playing Northwestern to a close game, and playing against the Oregon team that ended our season last year. We came out really strong, defeating the Ducks 15-8. The offense and defense played a great game combined. After the game I got to see past high school teammates, Casey Brogan and Bridget Morrison, who play for Oregon. It's always great to catch up after not seeing each other for a while.
On Sunday, we played San Diego State. They came to play, fired up as always. We ended up winning 23-16, which was our highest scoring game of the season. In this game, our offense was doing great and our defense was where we had struggles. Despite this, we were able to come out with a win.
This week we finish out our conference play, heading to UC Davis on Thursday and Cal on Saturday. We're all really excited to play our first game on the new Pac-12 Network against Cal on Saturday, everyone should check it out 1 p.m. PST! Following this week of games we will be heading to our conference tournament at Oregon, and to hopefully bring back the trophy to Stanford!
