Poll: Which New Coach Will Win Most?
from staff reports
Is Penn State, sleeping giant, now awake?
Judging by the Nittany Lions' two offseason coaching hires -- they lured Jeff Tambroni away from Cornell to coach their men's team and Missy Doherty from Towson to lead the women -- it appears that way.
"We're going to be a major player in college lacrosse," said Penn State athletic director Tim Curley. "I don't know the time frame, but we're going to go after it and give these coaches what they need to be successful. We're very, very excited. There's a buzz about it at Penn State and a buzz nationally."
Happy Valley isn't the only place getting goosebumps. After a tumultuous offseason that saw 12 coaching changes in Division I women's lacrosse and a series of high-profile fires and hires in Division I men's lacrosse, the Lacrosse Magazine staff here in Baltimore wants to know who you think will have the most success in his or her new gig in 2011.
