Snow Earns NEILA Award

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University men's lacrosse
junior Sam Snow (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) was named the Anaconda
Sports/Lids Team Sports NEILA Player of the Week for his five-goal
effort in the Stags win over Stony Brook on Saturday. The Stags
received 64 points in the coaches' poll to move up one spot to
fourth.
Snow helped jumpstart the Stags opening day win with a pair of goals, 44 seconds apart, in the first quarter, to erase a 4-2 deficit. He then tallied a man-up goal in the third quarter to give the Stags an 8-6 lead and followed that with a goal to make it 10-7. Snow touched net for a career-best fifth goal in the fourth quarter to give the Stags a 12-8 advantage. He took seven shots on the day, netting five of them, but putting all five on goal.
Fairfield moved past Hartford in the latest NEILA poll, which saw UMass remain first, with 104 points, and this week receive all 13 first-place votes. Harvard is second in the poll with 89 points, followed by Yale (78), Fairfield, and Hartford (53). Brown received 39 points in the poll to earn the sixth slot and Dartmouth and Bryant, the Stags next opponent, are tied for seventh, with 20 points apiece.
In addition, the NEILA, comprised of the 13 Division I programs in the region, announced its Preseason Team. The Stags were represented by senior Brent Adams in the midfield.Fairfield hosts Bryant on Saturday at 1 p.m. on Alumni Field.
