Bryant Announces 15 Newcomers for 2014

from Press Release

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head coach Mike Pressler is pleased to announce the addition of 15 student-athletes to the Bulldog men's lacrosse program for the 2014 season.

The group of newcomers consists of a 14-member Class of 2017 and one transfer and represents a well-balanced addition to the Bulldog lineup. Four players join Bryant's longpole ranks, while the team adds eight to its midfield unit and three at attack.

The group hails from six different states ranging from nearby Connecticut all the way to the West Coast, as three California natives — Will Montero, Kyle Mummau and Ryan Sharpe — suit up for the Black and Gold this spring.

Connecticut (Brett Baker, Drew D'Antonio, Pearse McEneaney and Charles South) and New Jersey (Tucker James, Jared Kaden and Mountain Lakes teammates Spencer Herman and Sam Walsh) lead the way, contributing four players each, while one calls neighboring Massachusetts home (Alex Haigis).

Huntington's Kenny Massa and East Northport's Mike Tufano make up the second pair of high school teammates joining the Bulldogs this fall, and the Elwood John Glenn graduates are the only two who hail from New York state. Graham Seuffert adds Delaware to Bryant's well-traveled roster and completes this year's incoming class.

"For the past month, our coaching staff has had the pleasure of watching, evaluating and coaching these 15 newcomers both on the field and in the classroom as they begin their exciting individual careers as true student-athletes here at Bryant University," said Pressler. "Overall, we have been very pleased with the effort, competitive spirit and general athleticism of the entire group. There is no doubt that many will have a major impact on our lineup as we continue to prepare for our 2014 season debut."

With its new host of incoming talent added to its returning veteran ranks, the Bulldogs head into the spring season with a three-peat on their minds after winning last year's regular-season crown, as well as the 2012 and 2013 Northeast Conference Tournament titles. The victory earned Bryant the league's first-ever automatic bid into the NCAA tournament last spring.
