Rutgers Men Release 2014 Schedule
from Press Release
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Dec. 2, 2013) – Slated to play its first season in High Point Solutions Stadium, the Rutgers men's lacrosse team released its 2014 schedule, head coach Brian Brecht announced Monday. The slate includes 15 regular season games and six BIG EAST contests. RU is scheduled to play six home games and nine road matches.
"My staff and I have been pleased with how hard the team has been working this fall," said head coach Brian Brecht. "We have five excellent captains and 14 seasoned seniors that I have been proud of over the past few months. We have returning players and young guys that are ready to sprinkle in and help us have success on game day. Our schedule will certainly challenge us this spring. I look forward to seeing the team prepare and rise to the challenge on game day this year."
This season, the Scarlet Knights play two teams that made the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship in Denver and Duke. Both teams made it to the Final Four, as the Blue Devils were eventually named national champions. The squad also travels to Princeton, who finished No. 14 in the Inside Lacrosse rankings last season.
Brecht enters his third season "On the Banks," and returns the 2013 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year in sophomore Kris Alleyne (New City, N.Y.) and junior faceoff specialist Joe Nardella (Cazenovia, N.Y.), a 2013 Second Team All-BIG EAST honoree. Rutgers welcomes back nine of its 10 starters, as well as Nardella in the faceoff circle, from a season ago.
