UMass Men Release 2014 Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse program announced its 2014 season schedule on Wednesday. Head coach Greg Cannella will challenge the program with a tough eight-game non-conference slate before the Minutemen begin their fifth season competing as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association.

Following scrimmages against St. John's on Jan. 25 and Siena on Feb. 1, Massachusetts opens its regular season with a Saturday, Feb. 8 game at Army in West Points, N.Y. UMass follows up its meeting with the Black Knights with a contest against Ohio State at the Moe's Southwestern Grill Classic in Jacksonville, Fla., on Sunday, Feb. 16.

The Minutemen return to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to face Harvard at home on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. before traveling to Brown on March 1 and hosting Albany the following Saturday, March 8.

After a March 11 battle Providence, the Minutemen open CAA competition at Penn State on Saturday, March 15. Non-conference play wraps up with contests against Fairfield on March 18 and Hartford on March 22.

Massachusetts faces four consecutive CAA foes to close the regular season, starting with an April 5 home game versus Towson. A trip to Drexel on April 12 follows while Senior Day will occur when Hofstra travels to Amherst, Mass., on April 19.

The Minutemen head to Delaware on Friday, April 25 for a 7 p.m. contest in their final game before the start of the CAA Tournament, which the highest seed will host on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament is scheduled for May 10-11 while the quarterfinals follow on May 17-18. The final four will be held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., from May 24-26.
