HIGH POINT, N.C. - Limestone College junior midfielder Desi Gonzalez has been named the first Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Player of the Week for the 2011 season.
Gonzalez (Massapequa, N.Y.) had a great debut for Limestone in which he captured 14-of-17 face-offs, scored a goal, added two assists and grabbed a pair of groundballs as No.4 Limestone opened the 2011 season and Conference Carolinas play with a 28-5 win at Lees-McRae on Wednesday, February 16 . Gonzalez' technique at the "center x" allowed his wingmen to record nine groundballs.
Limestone's 28 goals tied for second most in program history, the 20 assists tied the program's single game record and the 48 points were the second highest in program history, and third most in NCAA Division II single game history.
