Limestone's Loewen Earns CC Player of Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. - Limestone sophomore attack Riley Loewen (Burnaby, British Columbia) has been the named, for the second time the season, as the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week for week five of the 2011 season.
Loewen erupted for 13 points on eight goals and five assists last week in leading the No.2 Saints to key victories against NCAA DII South Region foes Belmont Abbey and Wingate by a combined 35-8. Loewen closed out the two game week on Saturday, March 19 accounting for eight points as the Saints won their home opener defeating Conference rival Belmont Abbey 19-4 at "The Rock". In that contest he scored five goals including a trio in the second half as Limestone scored the contests final 11 goals. He also added three assists.
Riley opened the week tallying five points thanks to three goals and two assists in a 16-4 non-conference win at Wingate on Wednesday, March 16.
He also had a caused turnover in each game and totaled four ground balls.
Loewen ranks third in NCAA Division II averaging 3.49 goals per game and is tied for fifth in scoring at 4.71 points per contest. His total of 25 goals leads the team and 33 points are second best.
This is the second honor for Loewen this season with the first coming in week three after after scoring five goals in Limestone's 11-9 win over then No.2 Le Moyne.
Limestone leads NCAA Division II in scoring offense averaging 18.86 goals and scoring margin at 12.29.
