Pedrick Takes Over at NDNU
from press release
BELMONT, Calif. -- The Notre Dame de Namur athletic department and Athletic Director Josh Doody have named Derek Pedrick the new head coach of the NDNU Lacrosse Program.
Pedrick spent last season as the Argonauts top assistant before taking over the reins from former coach Steve Dini who left the program last month.
"I want to thank Josh Doody and Hernan Bucheli for the opportunity to be the head coach of men's lacrosse at NDNU." Pedrick said. "I am extremely excited to get to work and take this program to the next level. We are going to find student athletes that are going to succeed both on and off the field. It certainly is an exciting time for NDNU Lacrosse."
Last season, Pedrick was responsible for the offense, defense and special teams while running the majority of the recruiting. He helped the Argos to Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) Championship after NDNU finished 7-1 in the league's inaugural season.
Prior to NDNU, Pedrick gained experience as an assistant coach for one season at Siena College in Loudonville, NY and two seasons at The College of Wooster in Ohio. Additionally, he was an assistant coach at Trinity College in Hartford, CT for two seasons.
Pedrick graduated from Springfield College where he played lacrosse for four seasons (2001-2005). He was a three year starter in the midfield, recording 72 goals and 15 assists while leading the Pride to three ECAC Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances.
The Argos will look to repeat as WILA Champions next season with seven starters returning and ten recruits currently signed.
"NDNU has so much to offer its student athletes with its location being just 20 miles south of San Francisco and 15 miles north of Silicon Valley." Pedrick said. "Along with having great academics, a beautiful campus and a top notch turf field we truly believe we are going to attract high level student athletes that want to be a party of the NDNU community."
