Mansfield Leads No. 7 Seton Hill Past No. 8 Pfeiffer

GREENSBURG, Pa. - On Saturday afternoon the 8-1 Griffins hosted the 11-1 Falcons of Pfeiffer University. The Griffins offensive powerhouse Taylor Mansfield led Seton Hill to a 14-7 victory.
In the first quarter the Falcons struck first scoring .45 seconds into play. Six minutes later Taylor Mansfield found the back of the net to put the Seton Hill on the board and tie the game 1-1 at the 8:38 mark. The Falcons answered back with a goal a minute later snatching the lead right back 2-1. Two minutes later James Delaney scored off a pass from Matt Delmonico to tie the game up again 2-2 going into the second quarter.
Seton Hill came out on a scoring mission in the second quarter. The Griffins scored 4 straight goals, three from Mansfield and one goal from Kevin Cala to take a 6-2 Seton Hill advantage with 11:23 on the clock. The Falcons managed to put one passed the keeper two minutes later making it a 6-3 contest. Seton Hill extended the lead back to four, 7-3 with a goal from Anthony Rusch at the 1:56 mark. In the final .15 seconds of the quarter the Falcons scored 2 goals closing in on the Griffins and entering halftime trailing Seton Hill 7-5.
In the third quarter the scoring alternated between teams as each team scored 2 goals with 8:38 on the clock making it a 9-7 match. The Griffins rounded out the half with goals from Mansfield and Delmonico to increase their advantage over the Falcons 11-7. The fourth quarter was all Seton Hill as they scored another 3 goals ending the game with a final score of 14-7.
With the win the Griffins record improves to 9-1 overall. Taylor Mansfield led Seton Hill's offense scoring 7 goals. Dylan Gelven scored 2 goals while Matt Delmonico added 3 goals and 2 assists. James Delaney and Kevin Cala both added a goal a piece in the victory. In net Christopher Ilse recorded 13 saves in the net for Seton Hill. The Griffins will travel to Lindenwood on Friday for the next contest at 7:00PM.
