Mercyhurst Captures First-Ever ECAC-II Crown

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The #1 Mercyhurst men's lacrosse team won, 12-9, at #6 Seton Hill Saturday afternoon. The Lakers improved to 14-0 and won the first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) regular season championship with the victory. They will host the ECAC Tournament May 3-5 at Tullio Field.
Mercyhurst led, 3-1, after a quarter and then took an 8-4 halftime advantage. The Lakers possessed the ball for much of the third frame and maintained a 9-6 lead going into the final period. The teams each scored twice to make it 11-9, but Jake McAndrew scored in the final two minutes to seal the win.
The Lakers moved to 14-0 in 2013 and will now have home-field advantage for the ECAC Tournament. They will host fourth-seeded Wheeling Jesuit on Friday, May 3, at 11 a.m. Seton Hill and Lake Erie College will square off in the other semifinal at 2 p.m. The winners will then play on Sunday, May 5, at noon.
