Stevens Elevated to Asst. AD at Colorado Mesa

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Colorado Mesa University Head Lacrosse Coach A.J. Stevens has been named CMU's Assistant Athletic Director of Competitive Club Sports effective July 1. The position is responsible for development and recruitment of students to participate in emerging sports.
"We look forward to working with A.J. in developing our competitive club programs," said Tom Spicer, CMU Director of Athletics.
Stevens started the men's lacrosse program and led the Mavericks to a 6-8 record in their first year of competition in 2011. Stevens was named Coach of the Year in 2012 after leading CMU to its first Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association title. Overall, Stevens posted a 31-21 record in four years as head coach of the Mavericks. He has a career record of 74-45.
"I loved working with our team and I am excited about the future of the program," Stevens said. "I am looking forward to helping CMU athletics climb to the top and be one of the most competitive programs in the nation. I am excited to work with our emerging sports. They are all very competitive."
Prior to coming to CMU, Stevens was an assistant lacrosse coach at the Claremont Colleges in California. He was a head coach at the University of Illinois and coached professionally for the Chicago Machine.
