Ithaca Reaps Empire-8 Honors

ITHACA, N.Y.--Two days after leading the men's lacrosse team to a win over Cortland, senior Neth Wiedemann (Episcopal/Dallas, Texas) and sophomore David Gal (Loomis Chafee/Amherst, Mass.) were named Empire 8 Player of the Week and Goalie of the Week, respectively. The two led the defense that held to second-ranked Red Dragons to just eight goals Saturday, more than six fewer than their season average.

Wiedemann picked up eight ground balls and caused three turnovers in the Bombers' win. He leads Ithaca with 26 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers this season.

Gal made a career-high 22 saves against Cortland. He also helped the team successfully clear the ball 23 times in 26 attempts. He has been named Goalie of the Week twice this season.
