WAC Men Return to Lacrosse for Leukemia
from press release
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Washington College
men's lacrosse team will once again play in the annual Price Modern
Lacrosse for Leukemia Fall Invitational Tournament. This year's
event, the 12th annual, will be held October 17th at Cedar Lane
Regional Park in Bel Air, MD. Sponsored by Price Modern, Lacrosse
for Leukemia showcases top NCAA lacrosse teams while raising funds
to further The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's mission to cure
leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the
quality of life for patients and their families.
As if often the case, the Shoremen are the only non-Division I team competing at the event. Washington will play Mount St. Mary's at 8:30 a.m. and Towson University at 10:10 a.m. The other competing teams are UMBC, St. John's, and Air Force. All teams will take part in a short ceremony at 11:45 a.m. and each team will have a patient serve as an "honorary captain."
The Washington College men's lacrosse team has reached the NCAA Tournament 28 times and was the first Division III men's lacrosse program to record 500 all-time victories.
