Lycoming's Romano Named MAC Player of Week
from press release
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With 10 goals through his first three games, sophomore Stephen Romano (Sewell, N.J./Washington Township) has earned the season's first Middle Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honor, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Tuesday, March 8.
Romano notched two hat tricks for the Warriors (1-2 overall), scoring three times against No. 15 Dickinson and a career-high five against SUNY Maritime. In addition, Romano picked up nine groundballs and turned the ball over just eight times.
Romano had an incredible game in the 11-10 win over Maritime, as he posted five goals and three assists, including assisting on the game-winning overtime goal.
The Warriors have won two offensive player of the week awards in a row, as junior Ethan Payne (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) won the last award of the 2010 season, on April 26.
The Warriors get back on the field on Thursday, March 10, when Ithaca, the third opponent receiving votes in the USILA national poll to visit this season, comes to the Shangraw Athletic Complex. Face-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
