Former Roanoke Star Tuma Joins Randolph-Macon

ASHLAND, Va.
–Three-time USILA All-American Justin Tuma has been named an Assistant Men's Lacrosse Coach at Randolph-Macon College announced Director of Athletics Jeff Burns on Thursday.

Tuma, who graduated from fellow ODAC member Roanoke College in May of 2011, will serve as J.B. Sheridan's lead assistant and help handle all facets of the Yellow Jacket program including on field instruction, game-planning, recruiting, conditioning and all of the team's academic affairs.

"I believe the addition of someone like Justin who has achieved the highest levels of success on a team, as a player and in the classroom, will prove to be invaluable as our program continues to improve on both the conference and regional level on the field, while producing the highest quality student-athletes possible off the field," said Sheridan.

While a member of the Maroons, Tuma was a three-time All-ODAC selection, earning ODAC Player of the Year honors as a senior. During his final season at RC, the Bloomfield Hills, Michigan native had 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points, in addition to school-records of 257 face-off wins and 200 groundballs.

For his career, Tuma finished with a program-best 460 ground balls, averaging 6.30 per-game during 73 career appearances. Tuma also fashioned a 63 percent success rate on face-offs during his career, winning 511 of 808 attempts. Offensively, he had 141 points on 67 goals and 74 career assists.

The 2011 ODAC Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Tuma graduated Roanoke with a business and economics degree and a 3.68 GPA. The two-year team captain excelled off the field with seven-straight semesters on the Dean's List. While at Roanoke, Tuma was a member of SAAC, academic integrity board, student conduct board, academic athletic advisory committee and the Maroon ambassador program.

was also a member of RC's Honors program, Alpha Kappa Psi and Delta Delta Gamma while receiving an honors award from the business department.

Roanoke captured two ODAC Championships during Tuma's career and received three-bids to the NCAA Tournament during that time. The Maroons advanced to the National Semifinals his senior year and the National Quarterfinals during his junior campaign.
