Guy Named Dallas Head Coach
from press release
IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Guy as men's lacrosse head coach.
"I am excited to have the opportunity to lead the men's lacrosse program at the University of Dallas," Coach Guy said.
"I would like to thank Athletic Director Dick Strockbine, and I am looking forward to working with the whole University of Dallas community. The University of Dallas has a solid reputation for academic excellence, and that will continue to be the lacrosse program's number one priority."
Guy takes over a program at the University of Dallas entering its third season of competition. In 2012 as first-year members of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the team netted a 1-8 record in SCAC-play on their way to a 2-12 mark overall.
A native of Salisbury, Conn., Guy served as assistant men's lacrosse coach at Princeton University for the 2012 season. He aided the Tigers in an undefeated (6-0) Ivy League regular season, which culminated into a NCAA Division I postseason berth.
Achieving the Ivy League's outright championship in 2012, Princeton fell to the University of Virginia, 6-5, in the opening-round of the NCAA tournament. Sporting an 11-5 record, Princeton finished the season ranked No. 12 in the NCAA's RPI Poll.
Guy's primary responsibilities at Princeton included holding fort as defensive assistant coach, controlling the substitution box on game days, maintaining the team's recruiting database, and organizing a summer-camp consisting of 36 club/high school squads.
It should be noted that Princeton's 6-foot-2 senior goalkeeper Tyler Fiorito was named 2012 Ivy League Player of the-Year.
Prior to his Princeton appointment Guy gained collegiate coaching-experience at Grand Canyon University (GCU), an NCAA Division II program located in Phoenix, Ariz.
Guy was assistant lacrosse coach for the Antelopes in the 2008 and 2009 seasons, before assuming the title of men's lacrosse head coach for the 2011 campaign.
In the latter position, Guy controlled all facets of GCU's men's lacrosse program. 10 of his student-athletes were pegged Pacific West Conference All-Conference selections, while three were named All-Academic selections.
Guy has held the head coach designation at the high school varsity level, coaching in Scottsdale at Chaparral High School (2010) and Notre Dame Preparatory High School (2007). He has also worked for the Arizona Burn Lacrosse Club as regional director (2010) and high school head lacrosse coach (2006-2008).
At midfielder, Guy played collegiately for Bridgton Academy (Maine), Springfield College (Mass.) and the University of Delaware. A series of injuries during the Blue Hens' 2003 season resulted in the end of his playing career.
Guy obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Behavior Management from the University of Delware, while minoring in Coaching Science (Spring 2005). He then proceeded to earn a Master of Science in Leadership from GCU (Fall 2009).
