from press release
PURCHASE, N.Y. – Head coach Kevin Warnock of the Manhattanville men's lacrosse team has announced the addition of Mike Derrenberger for the 2013 coaching staff.
As an assistant coach, Derrenberger will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the men's lacrosse program, including on- and off-campus recruiting, fundraising and alumni affairs, and game and practice preparation and instruction.
"The program is excited to add Mike to the staff, his knowledge of the game both on and off the field will really help us as a program moving forward," Warnock said. "I believe that Mike can help us achieve our goals of winning a Freedom Conference Championship and competing at a national level."
Derrenberger comes to Manhattanville after serving as an assistant coach at Connecticut College for the past two seasons. While with the Camels, Derrenberger worked with both the offense and defense while also assisting with recruiting and was also responsible for game film and replay technology.
Prior to his time with Connecticut College, Derrenberger was an assistant coach with several lacrosse organizations in his native Ann Arbor, Mich. Including the Ann Arbor Pioneer High School boy's lacrosse team from 2007-10, as well as the Blue Jay Lacrosse Club in 2010.
He was a four-year letter winner at Division III Wittenberg where he played in 39 career games at midfield and accumulated 15 points with eight goals and seven assists. Derrenberger would go on to graduate with a degree in business management in the spring of 2010.
The Manhattanville men's lacrosse team gets their 2013 campaign underway on March 2 when they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on the Vassar Brewers. The home opener comes in the next contest when the Valiants play host to Western Connecticut State on March 6.
