Montclair State Tabbed Favorite In Skyline

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Five-time defending champion Montclair State has been selected to capture the 2014 Skyline men's lacrosse title in voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches.
The Red Hawks posted a 14-5 record a year ago and ranked among the national leaders in scoring defense. Montclair State welcomes back senior goalkeeper Michael Dorn, who ranked third in the nation in save percentage (.657) and ninth in goals against average (6.06 pg.) en route to earning 2013 Skyline Co-Player of the Year honors. MSU garnered six first-place votes and 36 overall points.
After compiling a program-best 15 victories in 2013, Kean finished second in the voting with 31 overall points and received one first-place vote. The Cougars will be led by third-team All-American and reigning Skyline Co-Player of the Year Richard Cheifitz. The senior attack amassed 50 goals and 35 assists last season and enters the 2014 campaign with 113 career goals.
Bolstered by the return of first-team All-Conference goalie Thomas Fallon, Farmingdale State is third in the poll with 26 points, followed by Richard Stockton (21), Mount Saint Mary (16), Maritime (10) and Mount Saint Vincent (7).
The semifinals of the four-team 2014 Skyline Men's Lacrosse Championship will be held on Wednesday, Apr. 30, with the finals scheduled for Saturday, May 3.
