HERKIMER, N.Y. -- Onondaga Community College crushed CCBC Essex, 17-4, to claim yet another National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) men's lacrosse title at Herkimer Community College.
With sheets of snow and high winds, it felt like a Central New York day, which made it something of a homey affair for the Lazers. The victory over the top-seeded Knights earned OCC revenge for one of its two rare regular season loss. The Lazers avenged the other loss by beating Nassau Community College in the NJCAA tournament semifinals.
Sophomore Shayne Jackson had six goals and two assists to lead OCC. Matt Crough added three and three, respectively.
"We were ready from the get-go," Jackson told the Syracuse Post Standard. "We just knew as long as played our game we should be able to win. It's nice to see a rout like this. It's good. It's good. It's real good."
"I think there are two relatively close teams in talents, and one played great today," CCBC Essex coach Shawn Burke said. "They played great. I've seen them play a lot this year. They played their best game in the biggest game, so you've got to give them a lot of credit.”
