Wildcats Down Davis in Double OT

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior Taylor Lucy scored a winning goal in the sudden death second overtime to lift the Villanova women's lacrosse team to an 11-10 victory over UC Davis at Villanova Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Lucy's winning goal extended the Wildcats' winning streak to four games and improved to a 5-6 overall record.
Lucy led Villanova with five goals on seven shots for the day. Senior Taryn McKenna and sophomore Samantha McKillip had two goals a piece, while senior Katie Stone and sophomore Nora Wallace each posted one goal.
Sophomore goaltender Maggie Langan had 11 saves to pick up the win.
Villanova led 5-4 going into halftime, but trailed 10-8 as UC Davis scored with 4:57 remaining in regulation. McKillip scored with 2:51 left in regulation and McKenna's goal with 1:48 left in regulation tied the score at 10. Neither team could connect on a goal in the first OT, but Lucy's game winner was enough with 23 seconds remaining on the clock.
The Wildcats have started a five-game homestand and will be back on the field Tuesday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. to host Long Island.
