Colgate Trio Honored by Patriot League
CENTER VALLEY, PA. - Colgate's Colleen Bubnack (Syracuse, N.Y.), Courtney Miller (Chappaqua, N.Y.), and Christina Roa (Potomac, Md.) were honored by the Patriot League as it released its weekly honors for women's lacrosse, Monday.
Bubnack was named the league's defensive player of the week after posting four goals, five points, nine groundballs, and nine draw controls as Colgate went 2-0 against Marist and Bucknell. The sophomore scored twice and picked up a career-high seven groundballs, and caused three turnovers in the 15-9 victory over the Red Foxes, Tuesday evening. Bubnack added two goals and caused six turnovers as the Raiders stretched their win streak to five games with a 12-7 triumph over the Bison. She is three draw controls away from tying her single season record of 50 set last year and needs five more assists to tie Colgate's single-season record for helpers (29).
Roa was named the goalie of the week for the second time this season. The freshman picked up two more victories to improve to 5-0 on the season. Playing the second half in both outings, she made four stops in each game in victories over Marist and Bucknell. Roa earned the same honor two weeks ago.
Miller picked up her first Patriot League weekly honor after being named the rookie of the week. The freshman scored three goals in each game, including notching the eventual game-winning goal in the victory over Bucknell.
Colgate, 12-3 overall, will end the regular season this Saturday at Lehigh. Game time in Bethlehem is set for 1 p.m.
