11 Spiders Score in UR Victory

PHILADELPHIA - Eleven different Spiders scored
as Richmond rolled past La Salle, 14-5 Friday afternoon in
Philadelphia. Freshman Caitlin Fifield led Spider scoring with
Richmond had control of the game from the very start, with three unanswered goals in the first five minutes of play. La Salle answered with an unassisted goal a minute later to cut the deficit to 3-1 with 23:28 remaining. Richmond responded with two consecutive Allison Furstenburg goals to push the lead to 5-1.
The Explorers scored at the 15 minute mark to cut the gap to 5-2, but the Spiders notched three more goals to push the lead back to 8-2 with five minutes remaining in the first half. La Salle scored once more to cut the lead to 8-3 before halftime.
Richmond started the first half very much like the first, scoring four quick goals to take a commanding 12-3 lead with 16:02 remaining in the game. La Salle responded with a goal of its own to cut the lead to 12-4 with 10 minutes remaining. The Spiders scored two goals to La Salle's one to end the game.
The Spiders outshot the Explorers by a whopping 36-21 margin. Sophomore Lindsay Crawford, sophomore Casey Kelley, sophomore Colleen Werther, freshman Sarah Vinall and freshman Molly Early all scored their first goals of the season.
Richmond hosts Saint Joseph's on Senior Day. Game time is set for Sunday at noon.
