Etrasco's Seven Enough for BU Over Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore Danielle Etrasco scored a career-high seven goals and the Terriers notched 10 first-half goals, as the Boston University lacrosse team rolled past Brown, 15-8, at Berylson Family Fields on Tuesday night. With the win, the Terriers improved to 1-1.
Junior Catie Tilton also established a career high, as she netted four markers against the Bears. Freshman Sydney Godett scored her first two collegiate goals, while junior Annie Stookesberry and sophomore Kristen Mogavero recorded one marker each.
Sophomore Kim Elsworth started for the Terriers and made nine saves, while freshman Christina Sheridan entered the contest late in the second half and turned aside four shots.
BU was outshot by the Bears, 35-21, but the Terriers scored on five-of-six free position shots. Brown (1-1) controlled ground balls, 13-12, and draw controls, 14-10.
After Brown opened the scoring just 1:37 into the game, Etrasco notched her first of the game 13 seconds later after bouncing a shot past Bear goalkeeper Isabel Harvey. Brown then took a 2-1 lead with 22:54 left in the first half, but the Terriers went on a 9-1 run to close the frame.
Godett scored on a free position shot at 9:05 and then Etrasco tallied three straight in a 4:49 span to give BU a 5-2 lead. She scored her first with 20:28 left in the half, then fired a free position shot for a goal at 11:42. She netted her third at 14:21 with an assist from senior Erica Baumgartner.
Stookesberry added her free position goal at 15:35 before Brown's Kaela McGilloway scored the Bears final goal of the half with 8:54 on the clock. Mogavero made it a 7-3 contest with a free position goal at 21:23. Tilton then scored twice in the final 5:52 of the half, while Etrasco added her fifth of the game on a free position shot as BU took a 10-3 lead.
BU opened the second half on a 4-1 run, as the Terriers took a 14-4 advantage. Tilton scored her third of the game at 2:39 and then assisted on Etrasco's sixth goal at 5:38.
Brown's Danielle Mastro made it a 12-4 game with 19:27 left in the second half, but Etrasco and Godett added unassisted tallies at 16:55 and 18:48, respectively, to give BU a 14-4 lead.
The Bears ended the game on a 4-1 in the final 9:56. Paris Waterman scored a pair of goals for the Bears before Tilton scored her fourth of the contest at 28:24. Grace Healy and Waterman added goals in the final 1:15 to account for the 15-8 final.
BU will return to action on Saturday (March 5) when it visits William & Mary at 1 p.m.
