La Salle Draws Up Big Win over La Salle

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle junior Lauren McDermott scored four goals for the Explorers, as the squad defeated Howard on Tuesday evening at McCarthy Stadium.
The Explorers controlled the draws well, adding 19 to Howard's
eight and scoring several goals off of them. La Salle picked
up 17 ground balls compared to Howard's eight.
La Salle also took a season-high 49 shots on the evening.
Senior Megan Corliss made eight saves in goal,
while allowing eight goals. Junior Maura
Malone saw time in goal with the minutes ticking away in
the second half, allowing two goals.
La Salle got on the board with two quick goals by Nora
McGurkin and Caitlyn Brostrand.
However, the game remained close, with Howard's Courtland Lackey
adding a goal with 5:06 remaining in the first to cut the La Salle
lead to 5-4.
The Explorers took a 6-4 lead into halftime after a goal by
McDermott.
After the break, La Salle rattled off four goals to extend its lead
to 10-4 and didn't look back.
For the Bison, Cynithia Smalls added four goals, while Ashley Foote
made 22 saves in goal.
La Salle will be on the road at Delaware on Saturday. The
game will begin at 3:00 p.m.
