Clark Stays Hot as Wagner Beats Siena

OYSTER BAY, N.Y. – Senior midfielder
Carolyn Clark (Syracuse, NY/ Westhill) enjoyed her third five-goal
game of the season, sophomore attacker Sam Morin (Rockville Centre,
NY/ South Side) tallied four goals while senior midfielders Lauren
Petrik(Baldwinsville, NY/ South Side) and Melanie
Garces (San Diego, CA/ Westview) each notched hat tricks in
leading Wagner to 17-7 win over Siena.
Trailing 4-3, Wagner erupted for five consecutive goals in building a comfortable 10-5 halftime lead. After the Saints narrowed their deficit to four goals at 10-6 with an nearly second-half tally, Wagner ran off four consecutive goals in stretching its lead to 14-6 and the Seahawks never looked back.
In winning their second consecutive game, coming on the heels of Tuesday’s 16-9 victory over Manhattan, the Seahawks improve to 2-3 on the season while the Saints fall to 0-4.
Deidre McQuillan and Katie McGuire paced Siena with three and two goals respectively. Wagner out-shot the Saints 26-18, led in ground balls 13-9 and held a 15-9 edge in draw controls. Wagner was successful on 4-of-7 on free position shots while Siena was 3-of-4 in free position shots.
In goal, freshman Shannon Sweeney (Madison, NJ/ Madison) gained her second consecutive win, making the most of her second career start with nine saves while Kristin Concordia had three saves for the Saints.
