Wagner Has First Four-Game Win Streak Since 2005

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior
midfielder Lauren Petrik (Baldwinsville, NY/
C.W. Baker) scored a career-high five goals and assisted on three
others to lead the Wagner College women’s lacrosse team to
its fourth consecutive victory, a 19-14 shoot-out over Howard.
In recording their first four-game winning streak since 2005, the
Seahawks improve to 4-3 on the season while the Bison fall to
0-5.
Petrik’s eight points were also a career high but she was
far from alone when it came to Seahawk offensive exploits in this
one. Sophomore attacker Sam Morin (Rockville
Centre, NY/ South Side), the reigning Northeast Conference (NEC)
Player of the Week, sank three goals and dished out two assists
while senior attacker Carolyn Clark (Syracuse,
NY/ Westhill) recorded a hat trick as well.
Junior attacker Erika Bulken (Baldwinsville,
NY/ C.W. Baker) added two goal and one assist. Bulken entered the
game ranked second in the nation in draw controls per game at 6.5
per game and had five this afternoon. Senior
midfielder Melanie Garces (San Diego, CA/
Westview) also had a two-goal, one-assist outing. Sophomore
defender Katy Bender (Cherry Hill, NJ/ Cherry
Hill West) collected a team-high four ground balls.
Howard was led by Courland Lake who fired home a game-high seven
goals while Jillian Parker added three goals.
Wagner will now venture further south to play Presbyterian College
in a neutral site game that will be played in Newport News, VA on
the campus of Christopher Newport University on Sunday, March 18 at
Noon.
