Fay, McCartney Pace Delaware vs. Old Dominion

from press release

NORFOLK, Va. – Behind a duo of hat tricks from Chelsea Fay and Caitlin McCartney, the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team earned its first Colonial Athletic Association victory of the season as the Blue Hens knocked off Old Dominion Friday night with a 9-5 victory in Norfolk.

Delaware (3-9, 1-1) had an eight-game losing streak snapped as the Hens posted their sixth straight victory over the Monarchs dating back to 2006.

Fay led the Hens with a career high-tying four-goal hat trick, while McCartney, this week's reigning CAA Rookie of the Week, notched her fourth career hat trick with three goals on the day.

Old Dominion (4-8, 1-1) dropped its first CAA loss of the season as five Monarchs pitched in with one goal apiece.

Between the pipes, freshman goalkeeper Alex Zaugra made a career-high 12 stops in 60 minutes of action for the Hens, while Old Dominion's Sarah Geary made eight saves in goal for the Monarchs.
