UC Davis Coach Jones Resigns After 11 Seasons

from press release

DAVIS, Calif. - Elaine Jones, head women's lacrosse coach since 2002, has submitted her resignation from her position with the UC Davis coaching staff, it was announced on Wednesday by Nona Richardson, interim director of athletics.

Jones compiled a 97-90 overall record in 11 seasons at the helm of the Aggies, posting a 14-35 record in nine seasons in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

"These past ten years that I have spent as the head coach of the lacrosse team have been a great experience both personally and professionally," said Jones. " I am proud of the time I have given to developing the program, however 10 years is a long time. That being said, I feel that change can be good and now is the time for me to step away and allow someone new to embark on their journey to carry UC Davis forward."

Richardson was appreciative of Jones' contributions.

"We thank Elaine for her dedication toward our lacrosse program and wish her well in her future endeavors," Richardson said.

A national search for a new head coach will begin soon, said Richardson.
