Deloria, Croutier Pace Siena Over Detroit Mercy

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Senior captain Maggie Deloria and freshman Sarah Croutier posted career-highs with six points apiece as Siena Women's Lacrosse won its home opener 13-7 over Detroit. Junior Kaitlyn Angerman added a hat trick accounting for her first three career goals. Detroit (0-2) scored the first three goals as Siena (1-1) was plagued by early turnovers in getting off to a sluggish start. But the Saints responded with the next three goals and ultimately took a 5-4 lead at the break.
Siena would go on to score five unanswered goals to take an 8-4 lead, holding the Titans scoreless for nearly 19 minutes and never trailed again.
Deloria finished with four goals including the game-winner, while Croutier catalyzed the Siena offense with five assists. Alyssa Treanor added three points and Lauren Smith tallied a pair of goals for the Saints which out-shot Detroit 34-22.
Sophomore transfer Julia Sirianni was once again dominant on the draw winning nine draw controls, giving her 16 in the first two games. Overall, Siena held a decisive 14-8 edge in draw controls.
Sophomore goalie Danielle DeLisio made 10 saves and picked up a team-high five groundballs in earning her first collegiate win.
Zaynib Hamze led Detroit with two goals and an assist, while picking up four groundballs and causing three turnovers. Lexie McCormick kept the Titans close for awhile making 15 saves in goal and added six groundballs.
The Saints return to the turf Wednesday when they host Vermont at 3 p.m.
