from press release

SAN DIEGO - Junior Meris Walsh scored four goals to lead the San Diego State Lacrosse team to a victory over Marquette, 19-5, on Thursday night at Aztec Lacrosse Field.

Sophomores Bailey Ewing and Michaela Jarvis each finished with three goals and an assist for the Aztecs, who have won their second-straight game and four of their last five. Sophomore Madison Formwalt added two goals and two assists, while sophomore Sophie Koubek and freshman Felice Artuso scored two goals apiece. Sophomore Madison Wallace led SDSU's defense with three groundballs, junior Christina Ricciardulli and sophomore Lauren Maack each recorded five draw controls, and Artuso caused two turnovers.

Goals by Maack and Ewing put the Aztecs ahead, 2-0, less than three minutes into the game. After Marquette got on the scoreboard with Kenzie Brown's goal, two scores by Walsh pushed SDSU's lead to 5-1 with 22:58 left in the first half. Consecutive goals later in the first half by the Golden Eagles pulled them within seven, but Jarvis' score off a pass from Ricciardulli made it 11-3, and Ewing's unassisted goal gave the Aztecs a commanding halftime lead, 12-3.

SDSU led by at least nine the rest of the way, as Walsh added two goals in the second half. The Aztecs out-shot Marquette 40-12 on Thursday night, and also had a 20-6 edge in draw controls. SDSU has outscored its last two opponents, 40-6.

The Aztecs return to action on Saturday afternoon against Temple. The game is scheduled to begin at noon PT at Aztec Lacrosse Field.
