Old Dominion Announces 2013 Schedule
from press release
NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University lacrosse team and head coach Heather Holt released the 2013 schedule on Friday.
The Lady Monarchs' 17-game schedule features eight home games and two teams that made the 2012 NCAA Tournament.
"We have a very competitive schedule this year," said Holt. "With the additions of Johns Hopkins and Jacksonville, I know our team is up for the challenge. It is always nice to come together as a unit in the spring after all of the preseason hard work. I know this is going to be a great year and we will surpass even our own goals and expectations."
Old Dominion begins the season with four of their first five games on the road as they travel to Johns Hopkins on Feb. 16 to open the season and then head to Louisville on Feb. 23.
ODU's home opener will take place on Feb. 26 against rival William and Mary at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. It is the second consecutive season that the two area rivals face off in the CAA opener. Last season, the Lady Monarchs defeated the Tribe in Williamsburg, 14-10.
Heading back on the road, ODU meets Jacksonville for the first time in program history on March 2 and then faces Richmond on March 6.
On Mach 9, Old Dominion hosts American before going to Saint Joseph's on March 17. Longwood then visits Norfolk on March 20 before ODU heads to Virginia Tech on March 23.
Beginning a season-long four-game homestand, the Lady Monarchs host perennial power Virginia on March 27 and then welcome Oregon on March 30 to round out non-conference action. Hofstra makes the trip to Norfolk in CAA action on April 5 while Drexel rounds out ODU's home tilt on April 7.
Three of their last four contests are on the road as they face Delaware on April 12 and Towson on April 14. The Lady Monarchs' final home game of the season is April 19 vs. George Mason and the regular season wraps up at James Madison on April 21.
