CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team picked up a season-opening win in style, knocking off the visiting Newberry Wolves on Thursday, 16-8.
PC starts the season at 1-0 and stays at home to host Delaware State on Saturday at 1 p.m. Newberry moves to 0-1.

Seiloff kicked off the scoring on a pass from Seiloff 1:23 after the opening draw. After a Newberry equalizer from Kerri Ann Barlage, the Blue Hose rattled off three quick goals from Ellis, Bonnie Corrigan (Yorktown, Va.) and Seiloff to go ahead 4-1.
Newberry broke the run with a goal at the 21:27 mark, but PC answered with a pair of its own. Freshman Amanda Lindsey (Peachtree City, Ga.) scored her first collegiate goal from the free position just 11 seconds before Corrigan potted her second of the game.
Two goals over a four-minute span from Newberry made it a 6-4 game, but Ellis found the back of the net twice in 22 seconds to restore a six-goal lead.
The two sides traded two goals again before halftime, as Brianne Ward(Cincinnati, Ohio) got on the board with Seiloff's third assist and Ellis scored her fourth to give PC a 10-6 lead at the break.
PC allowed only two goals in the second half en route to the win. Three of Hogan's saves came in the period to keep Newberry at bay.
The Blue Hose scored three straight goals to open the half, as Maggie Richardson (Maplewood, N.J.) scored her first of the season before Seiloff and Ward extended the PC lead.
Newberry's Noelle Allen scored her second of the game, but Seiloff's fourth and Ellis's fifth gave PC an eight-goal advantage. After Newberry's final goal with 10:21 to go, Ward completed her hat trick at 8:42 and put the finishing touch on PC's season-opening win.
Freshmen Jess Goergen (Fayetteville, Ga.), Maura Talvacchia (Moorestown, N.J.), Jordan Lack (St. Augustine, Fla.) and Dakota Duchaine (Cumming, Ga.) made their collegiate debuts in the game.
