Women's Composite Top 20: 'Cuse, Maryland Tied Up Again
|This weekend's ACC tournament should clear up who's No. 1 among the challengers this week. (Peyton Williams)|
With the ACC tournament bringing five of the Top 10 teams (and seven of the Top 20) to Boston College this weekend, its likely that this will be the last time Maryland and Syracuse will stand tied atop the composite rankings, but that's where they stand for the second straight week, with the Terrapins taking top billing in the Media Poll and on LaxPower while the Orange earn the IWLCA and Lacrosse Magazine No. 1.
Probably most notable about the rankings this week is that Denver - at 15-1 and holding a head-to-head win over a Stanford team that was upset by Southern California on Sunday - is not in the Top 20 due to the media and IWLCA voters ranking the Cardinal in the Top 20 and the Pioneers outside. It'll be interesting to see if the Pioneers can channel that slight into motivation as the hosts of the MPSF tournament next weekend.
Each week, we will publish an aggregate of the four major rankings - The Top 20 Lacrosse Magazine, the ILWomen.com media poll, the IWLCA coaches poll and the LaxPower computer rankings. All teams that were either ranked or noted as 'received votes' in one of the polls is listed below.
