No. 9 Stonehill Routs Upstart Shepherd

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Shepherd University dropped a 23-5 decision to ninth-ranked Stonehill in women's lacrosse action on Thursday in Winter Park.

Sam Lynott had five goals and three assists and Sarah Galligan added four goals to lead the Skyhawks.

Freshman attack/midfielder Shannon Carta (Davidsonville, MD/South River) led the Rams with three goals.

Junior attack/midfielder Kaitlin Drake (Ellicott City,MD/River Hill) added a goal and an assist, while freshman attack Christina Ferrara (California, MD/Leonardtown) tallied a goal.

Freshman netminder Emily Melanson (Davidsonville, MD/South River) had 18 saves for the Rams. Kate McCarthy (2), Rebecca Moore, and Caitlyn Taveira (1) combined for five saves for the Skyhawks.

Stonehill had a 41-10 advantage in shots and a 17-7 edge in ground balls. The Skyhawks won 25-of-29 draw controls.

Shepherd drops to 4-3, while Stonehill improves to 5-0. The Rams return to action on March 26 when they host Seton Hill for a 1 p.m. contest at Ram Stadium.
