No. 2 Lock Haven Tops No. 11 Gannon in Snow-Shortened Game

from press release

ERIE, Pa. – Despite snow and harsh playing conditions, the No. 2 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (11-0, 7-0 PSAC) earned an important road win Wednesday as the Lady Eagles downed host Gannon University (7-4-1, 4-3 PSAC) 12-8 in PSAC action.

The game was called by the officials because of unplayable field conditions with 11:53 left in regulation. The game is official and LHU is credited with the win because over 80 percent (48 minutes) of the contest was completed.

The Lady Eagles dominated host-Gannon early and jumped out to a 4-0 lead less than 15 minutes into the game.

Jessica Pandolf (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem North) was the difference for the Eagles, and she finished with a game-high six goals.

Pandolf opened the scoring just 49 seconds into the game and led The Haven to a 9-1 halftime lead.

Lock Haven's other six goals came from six different players, including Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), who had a six-point afternoon. She netted one goal and assisted five others.

Katie Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) once again led Lock Haven defensively. In another all-around sensational effort, she had nine groundballs, two draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) made 11 saves to lead LHU in net.

With today's win, LHU remains a perfect 11-0 on the season. Lock Haven is 7-0 in conference play.

Lock Haven returns home to close out the regular season with five straight home games, including three against top-10 teams. The Lady Eagles kick off that five-game stretch with No. 9 Mercyhurst College on Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m.
