No. 6 Lock Haven Smashes No. 10 Merrimack

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– The No. 6 Lock Haven University lacrosse team (2-3) got goals from 11 different players and goalie Heather Sacko (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) led a tremendous defensive effort as the Lady Eagles rolled in their home-opener, downing No. 10 Merrimack College (2-2) 19-10 today.

Elyse Fisher (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Rachel Ward (Fishers, Ind./Bishop Chatard) led The Haven's offense as they scored four goals apiece.

Gwen Buss (Harrisburg, Pa./Mercersburg Academy) had a seven-point day for LHU. She scored two goals and assisted five others.

Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) added one goal and four assists.

Sacko was brilliant in net and her 15 saves led Lock Haven's solid defensive outing.

The Lady Eagles defense put the pressure on Merrimack from the start with everyone in the lineup contributing, including Clare Gaeng (Frederick, Md./Governor Thomas Johnson), who had two caused turnovers.

Lock Haven's offense was churning on all cylinders today as 12 different players registered a point and five different Lady Eagles had multi-point games.

Visiting Merrimack jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Lock Haven got things going and rolled to a 12-4 halftime lead.

Lock Haven is right back at it on Saturday (March 24) when the Lady Eagles host No. 3 C.W. Post at 1 p.m.
