from press release

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Playing in their Conference Carolinas opener, No. 6 Limestone (2-0, 1-0 CC) made short work of nearby Converse (0-2, 0-1 CC) as they scored 22 straight goals en route to a dominant 22-1 victory in an NCAA Division II women's lacrosse game on Friday, February 15.

Senior midfielder Chelsea Treat (Penn Yan, N.Y.) delivered a game-high four goals and added an assist while senior attack Sylvia Queener (Penn Yan, N.Y.) finished with three goals, an assist and three groundballs. Last year's Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Yeark, sophomore midfielder Sam McCarrick (Oswego, N.Y.), posted another strong outing with two goals and three assists.

Freshman midfielder Taylor Cline (Hagerstown, Md.), junior midfielder Kacie Harris (Stanley, N.Y.) and junior midfielder Katie Farrell (Brooks, Ga.) each had two goals and an assist and senior attack Ali Schumacher (Gainesville, Va.) and senior midfielder Brittany Howard (Oswego, N.Y.) also had two scores apiece. Senior midfielder Jessie Aguglia (Webster, N.Y.) chipped in with a goal and an assist.

After allowing a goal to the Valkyries Amelia Helm at the 25:26 mark, Limestone not only buckled down defensively, they put their foot on the gas pedal and never let off as they scored 22 straight goals. It was an 11-1 margin at half before the Saints poured on 11 more over the final 30 minutes for the 21-goal victory.

Helms led the way for Converse with her one goal while Sam Green had an assist and game-high four groundballs. Alexandra Gurecki played 34:21 and allowed 14 goals to take the loss and fall to 0-2. Sandra Ponce saw action for 22:10 and allowed seven goals without a save and Erin Mathers gave up one goal in 1:02.

Limestone will open the home portion of their season on Friday, February 22 when they host Erskine. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Saints Field.
