Adelphi and Limestone, the only two teams to make it through the Division II women's lacrosse season undefeated, were rewarded on Sunday night with the top seeds in the North and South Region for the NCAA tournament. If the seedings hold, we’ll see a rematch of of the 2011 NCAA championship game on May 18, in Salem, Va.

That is no guarantee, as six other teams stretching from the shores of the Long Island Sound to the banks of the Mississippi River will look to spoil those perfect seasons. But in the first round, we are guaranteed three rematches, all of games played over the last month.

The fourth seed in both regions, Saint Anselm in the North and Lindenwood in the South, are making their tournament debuts. Both teams will also be looking to avenge big losses. Limestone dispatched Lindenwood, 15-7, on Saturday. Adelphi took care of Saint Anselm, 21-11, on April 12.

The 2/3 game in the North will feature a rematch of a thriller from two weeks ago, as No. 3 New Haven heads to No. 2 LIU Post. The Pioneers rallied to win that game, 14-13, which allowed them to hold on the the No. 2 seed even after a loss to Dowling in the ECC title game.

At the start of last week it was not even clear whether the PSAC would have a representative in the NCAAs. A big showing in the conference tournament not only got Lock Haven in, but gave the Bald Eagles a first round home game as the No. 2 seed. They’ll host No. 3 Pfeiffer, which leapfrogged Lindenwood thanks to its head-to-head victory in March.
