Dickinson Upsets No. 18 Mary Washington

The Dickinson College women's lacrosse team handed #18-ranked Mary Washington a 13-9 loss on Friday afternoon. The Red Devils outscored the Eagles 7-3 in the second half as they improve to 5-1 overall.
The Red Devils jumped out to a 3-1 lead before the Eagles' Katie Wallis tied the game with back-to-back goals. The teams battled evenly throughout the first half, taking a 6-6 tie into the break.
Lexie Kob (Collegeville, Pa./Springford) tallied a pair of goals around a score from Abby Larson (Easton, Md./Gunston Day) to put the Devils in front 9-6 with 14:14 remaining in the game.
Mary Washington fought back once again, tying the game, 9-9 at the 11:19 mark, netting three goals in just under two minutes.
Senior Ana Sokol (Colts Neck, N.J./The Peddie School) scored the game-winner on a fast-break at the 9:26 mark, putting the Devils in front 10-9. Larson handled the insurance, netting the final three goals of the game.
Larson led all scorers with four goals on the afternoon, adding five draw controls. Senior Amy Jennings (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) dished out three assists and scored once, adding three caused turnovers.
Junior Amanda West (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) controlled a game-high seven ground balls to anchor a solid defensive effort.
Sophomore Jessie Clark (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) made 10 saves on the day.
Allie Kimmelman led UMW (6-3) with three goals and two assists, adding five ground balls. Jenny Atmar matched a game-high with seven ground balls while controlling three draws. Danni Guigli made 15 saves in goal.
The Red Devils (5-1) travel to Washington College tomorrow to face the Shorewomen at 1:00 pm.
