Sheridan Breaks Record; White Mules Roll
from press releases
WATERVILLE, Maine - Kate Sheridan (Hingham, Mass.) broke another record and the third-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team won another game with a 21-0 victory over Plymouth State University in non-conference play Tuesday at Bill Alfond Field.
Sheridan came into the day tied with Margaret Mauran '91 with 167 career goals. She scored two goals and dished three assists and now has 169 goals and 95 assists for 264 career points. Sheridan is already the all-time leading scorer at Colby and still has a chance to break the career assist record of 113 set by Ally King '03.
Colby (9-1 overall) took a 22-2 win over the Panthers last year on April 8 and has a 17-3 record since that game, including a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) championship game win over Trinity College.
Cary Finnegan (West Hartford, Conn.), a co-captain along with Sheridan, added two goals and two assists for the Mules. Amy Campbell (North Andover, Mass.) had a team-high three goals, Claire Donegan (Great Falls, Va.) finished with two goals and one assist, and Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) and Katie Briody (Hopewell, N.J.) each had one goal and two assists. Kathleen Kramer (Norwell, Mass.) scored twice, while Caroline Atwater (Catonsville, Md.) and Alison Iannotti (North Haven, Conn.) both had one goal and one assist.
The Mules scored four goals in the opening 3:45 of play and led 13-0 at halftime.
Keryn Meierdiercks (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) had seven saves for Colby in earning the shutout. Nicole Provencher (Guilford, Conn.) also had seven stops for the Panthers.
