Gargiulo Named MAC Player of the Week
from press release
WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – With 18 goals in a span of three games, junior Grace Gargiulo (Branchburg, N.J./Immaculata) has leapt to the top of the Middle Atlantic Conference in goals, helping her earn her first MAC Offensive Player of the Week award, the conference office in Annville, Pa., announced on Tuesday, March 15.
Gargiulo posted eight goals in Lycoming's come-from-behind win over Arcadia on Friday, March 11, drawing a charge with 30 seconds left before racing the length of the field to score the game-tying goal, as she came one goal shy of the school record. She also added an assist to finish with nine points, tied for ninth-most in school history, and she notched four groundballs and controlled five draws. During the game, she also became the 17th player in school history to reach 50 career goals.
On March 9, she tied her previous career-high with four goals at Allegheny. On Monday, March 14, she wrapped up the week with six goals, including three free-position attempts, in a narrow 14-11 loss to Roger Williams. Gargiulo posted five groundballs and added four draw controls against the Hawks.
Gargiulo is the first Warriors' Offensive Player of the Week since her sister, Danielle, a 2010 Lycoming graduate, earned the award on March 23, 2009.
The Warriors (1-3 overall) get back on the field on Wednesday, March 16, when they head to Susquehanna for a 4 p.m. rivalry matchup.
