Gribbon Corrals Defensive Award for CC
from press release
OLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Freshman defender Sheridan Gribbon was selected Defensive Player of the Week by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference for her efforts during Colorado College's 17-7 victory over the University of Dallas.
Gribbon grabbed a season-best five ground balls and tied her season highs with two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers as the Tigers held their fourth consecutive opponent to less than 10 goals and lowered their goals-against average to 8.40.
A product of Alexandria, Va., Gribbon has started all 10 games this spring. She's tied for second on the team with nine caused turnovers and tied for fifth with 15 ground balls.
This marks the fourth time that a CC player has earned the league's weekly defensive award this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Abby Fink received the distinction twice, while freshman midfielder Grace Gahagan was recognized once.
Colorado College, which improved to 9-1 with its fourth consecutive victory, plays host to Fort Lewis College and Centre College this Friday and Sunday, respectively.
