Bowdoin Women Blast Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. - Thirteen different players
scored as the Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team jumped out to a
14-0 lead and rolled to a 21-4 win at Wheaton on Saturday
afternoon. The Polar Bears, who are ranked 12th nationally in the
latest IWLCA poll, improve to 9-2 this spring. The Lyons drop their
third straight game and fall to 5-9 overall on the year.
Junior Katie Herter and first-year Jordan Smith recorded a hat trick apiece in the victory for Bowdoin. Carolyn Gorajek, Chelsea Albright, McKenna Teague and Cayla Liptak each had two goals for the Polar Bears while Molly Popolizio had a score and two helpers in the win.
Bowdoin blanked Wheaton in the first half and extended its lead to 14 goals with the first two scores of the second period. The Polar Bears also scored the final four goals of the contest to surpass the 20-goal mark for the second time this season.
Alexandra Brown made four saves in net for Bowdoin while Katie Stewart collected a team-best five groundballs. In addition to her three scores, Herter added three groundballs and four draw controls.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Bates College on 7:00 p.m. at Ryan Field.
